Is Asbestos Awareness Training a legal requirement?

Workers and supervisors, including self-employed contractors, need to be able to recognise asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) and know what to do if they come across them.

The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) says that every employer must make sure any worker who is likely to disturb asbestos during their normal duties, or who supervises those individuals, receives the relevant information, instruction or training so they can work safely without exposing themselves or others to avoidable risk.

This course is designed to provide an understanding of the hazards and risks posed by asbestos and how to avoid exposure. It outlines how to identify those materials that may contain asbestos and where they might be found.

This is an awareness course only and does not train delegates to work with any forms of asbestos. It informs the delegate how to reduce the associated risks from asbestos in order to work more safely on site.
